Specimen Purchase
« on: January 30, 2015, 05:11:46 PM »

I wanted to share this specimen I got at Quartzsite with you; it is Halite on Trona (aka sodium chloride).  I think the cubic crystal formations are super cool.

Sorry about that- the moral of the story is, re-arrange your photobucket BEFORE you post pics...

I have a sick mind and you probably do not want to know. Pink and salty just do not go together. Salt should be white.

Thanks guys, the formations are pretty cool and they are in all sizes from little tiny to the big ones which are about 1/2" or so.  The whole piece is about 3 x 4", I paid $15 for it.

Thanks for sharing the structure and color are unbelievable.  Who would have thought salt could be so cool.

Odd how pleasingly well  the crystal form and color work together.

That's some pretty stuff for sure even if it is just salt.
