quartz pendant
« on: August 17, 2020, 05:37:26 PM »

I have not been much of a lapidary lately focusing more on my woodwork. I had a gallery reach out to me so suddenly my shop is less crowded with many of my pieces now displayed at a gallery and I had a chance to make a few pendants.

Sometimes part of the creation process includes components of those that have inspired me. This piece, to me, screams Frank. I honestly can't wait to open any post I see the "lithicbeads" signature...so thank you Frank for that continual spark!

I'm unsure of this rock...quartz and something. Picked it up off road hiking north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. We were trying to find this massively tall rock pillar called "Smokestack" that was depicted in a very old photo associated with Georgia O'Keefe.. I filled my backpack with a variety of rocks and never made the pillar.

Sometimes they just show up even when you're not looking!

With watering and weeding stone cutting has not been happening at my place. Thanks for the inspiration I think I will restart with something stupidly big.
