Title: Cassiar Jade

I finally decided to cut a piece off the 2lb. piece my buddy gave me but I'm having trouble cutting it down from where I have it now. This beautiful material defies being cut and polishes like a dream; this is only at 1200 on the diamond flat lap but I cut it so I don't have to fight with any feathering and to show the inclusions as much as possible. I might just put a hole through the narrow end and finish it like this. It is about 10cm. long x 8mm thick at this point. Photo taken in very low light

That is very nice, that green with the lighter green fleck is sure unusual, very nice indeed :icon_sunny:

I have some similar jade that came out of Canada and have had nothing but problems with it both drilling and polishing. Your piece looks amazing but there again, you da man when it comes to polishing jade.

Because of the weight, I am thinking of parting it lengthwise; this will give two benefits, reduced weight by half and the light will show internally more, but for the time being I'm liking the feel of it as a plaything
This colour green is really nice without the flecks Bent and Helene but with them, I think makes it pretty special :headbang:

I cut this along the line of cleavage which makes for a very strong stone; it is a bit schistose but is probably the highest quality I've seen of this material so grinding and polishing is even something I can do on it Jim. I'm thinking of parting it lengthwise along the same plane to get more light in which will make the individual pieces about 4mm; I measured it and it is 10mm thick not the 8 I posted
