Dug a nodule out of a larger rock this morning.
Nice rounded top, figured i would stuff its face in the wheels and take a look-see.
I think i am getting familiarized with this stone now, that brown layer is ALOT thicker than i could ever imagine, the colors are deep, this took me 5 hours on my machines and i still have to polish it.
This (the end photos) semi polish is just extremely almost falling apart 600 sic belt shine.
I plan on cutting the cab off the rock, touching up the sides and mounting it in a ring i create soon.
Will be my very first completed Fire agate.

more.
i still think, if i was talented enough to carve skulls, the fire agate part as a motorcycle helmet and a skull under it.
-
Very cool. Heck, just carve the face of the skull - then that FA would look like a brain.

LOL!!! :LOLOL:
I think i am going to go coarse 600 again and take it a little deeper, i am seeing green in fire, i like green.
Thoughts from the pros?
-
i think i will just polish it with CO, cut the cab off and touch the sides up and call it good lol
-
That looks like a close shave already, while going through polish, you will still loose some more material, so you might just about get your wish about green.
-
With serum oxide, it's only going to be on my felt for a minute.
Green would be awesome though

???? No Diamond-paste? Straight to Oxide?
Did you see the link to the burrs used?

this one was done completely on my wheels of a lortone combination cabbing machine/saw. :coffee1:
Im using some nearly wasted 600 grit sic belts which i think is simulating 500,000 grit lol!

been showing this little fire agate around alot, everyone is amaxed at how the fire inside looks like brains lol!
I should locate someone to cast a silver bust of a head, not a skull (not into that sort of art lol!)
