This seems mighty odd to me. Should even a Jadeite bracelet break so easily? And do they not have insurance in China?

I have seen this happen b4 in Hawaii and it is sad. Bad workmanship with to much heat is what I have been told by other jade carvers. Although I am not sure myself, I have only carved 1 piece and it was small and has lasted 25yrs so far it's a pendant.

I had the same thoughts when I read it earlier. Jade's very tough and resistant to breakage though I think jadeite's less tough than nephrite. Of course we don't know all the details and anything's possible I suppose.
