Title: Mariposite
Post by: Michael on May 02, 2018, 12:39:02 PM
My wife has a good friend, whose husband recently passed gaver her two boxes of Maripoisite.  He was a manager of some sort who was running a Mariposite mine in Sonora CA.

Has anyone worked with this stone.  I know it's a composite of marble, mica, chromium, etc.  Any opinions about the best way to cut, sand and polish this rock?  Thanks

Gently to an extent. I keep it away from coarse diamond and sic.It will usually polish fine on diamond which will save the problem of oxides in the pits and since it is a mix of hard and soft minerals it can pit.
