Title: Apatite for Amanda
Post by: tntmom on November 29, 2014, 09:39:04 PM
This Apatite is crazy stuff.  It looks like a thousand fractures in a maze going every direction.  In reality though, every single one of them is healed and this stone requires 0% stabilization  :headbang:

The strangest healed fracture in this particular cab goes right through the middle of it.  At first I totally freaked out and thought the cab was going to break in half and I got stressed out!  I noticed at the 600 grit that if I held it up to the light I could see through it.  Filled with quartz maybe?  That particular fracture was harder than the rest, it looked completely polished at 3000.  Complete opposite of what I expected.

Let me know what you think Amanda.  Btw, I did not do the back past 600 because I know you cover it up!

how cool, shows a story.
Although life may be hard on things, pressuring breakage - there is always healing.

That's easy..... If you happen to see an amazing Namibian Pietersite slab that doesn't cost a fortune..... let me know!  I sold the last one I did at the store that consigns me.  When I dropped it off I felt regret.  I called the store owner to tell her I had changed my mind and that I wanted her to pull it so that I could eventually set it and keep it for myself.  She informed me that it sold immediately  :sad5:  I have a couple pieces left but they don't have that wow factor.

OK Namibian Pietersite it is.  I'll do what I can for you sweetie.   :icon_sunny:
If I cannot find any that is reasonably priced, is there anything else you would want?

Well that's a trip!

Love that cab Krystee!!!!!!  And the finish you get on your cabs really makes me envious.  I am going to buy myself a couple of finer grit wheels...
