I finally finished up a couple of cabs from meh stone as far as the world goes but they turned out pretty nice. I have no clue what they are and unless someone recognizes them from duplicates from somewhere else on the planet. They are just local rock that most people wouldn't even look at twice. In fact some of the rocks like this get tossed, picked up, tossed again, looked at again then one day I will think "maybe I should cut this before I wear it out from picking it up". The results. Not sure what happened but somehow there were a couple that did not get photographed so they will have to come later, or never, hard to tell with me.
Leopard stone. The black is chatoyant which narrows it down to something black.

Other than living out in the sticks (not all bad) it is great to be somewhere that I can pick up just about any type of weird stone and make something out of it. Most people go out looking for one or two types of stone and I get to look for almost an infinite number of different stones. So, all you single ladies that like rocks come on up, or down, or over and we will try to find some good rocks for you. PS Bring a really good pick/axe because we are going to have to chip them out of frozen ground. PSS My bad, all of ya'll are welcome too but you will have to find your own accommodations unless you can sleep in a chair or on the floor. Or maybe a couch in the big house. Hell, just come by and we will figure out something. lol

you know you have an eye for the unique and must have xray eyes to pick those out in the rough LOL; nice looking rocks!!

Hornblende is the black I think. I have every intention of finding my way over next year before the freeze, well before. I have a weeks worth of climbing I want to do in a certain place in Idaho then I think we need to raise some hell.

I love that attitude! Go for it Frank! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
It's great to see you slowly becoming more mobile again.

<--- On my way!
I'm digging your attitude about cutting stones. Fergit about chasing that perfect agate or picture jasper. Cut whatever falls into your hands!
The Frank school of Lapidary!

Very nice stones indeed.

I like them a lot. The 5th stone looks kind of mossy which I love. I have some material sort of similar to the sixth stone- I also do not know what name to give it. You are lucky to have such interesting material just laying around waiting for you to pick it up.

Thanks all and you're on Frank. I know where there are a lot more rocks.

I am itching to get this year going. It is going to be a gangbusters year I think , all stops out.

Half the fun is learning how each material cuts and the end surprise when cut.
I think I like being around rock hounds more than the rocks. We don't mind sleeping on floors.
