Title: Free form half cab
Post by: drnihili on March 14, 2015, 11:47:07 AM
Teresa was out working on the expando drum last night, and I had a hankering to try out the new diamond wheels.  I grabbed the end I had cut off a stone a while back just to have something to play with.  I think it's coming out alright.

Thanks all.  It really was sort of unplanned, I was just going to test out the wheels and then a few hours later ....

I left the back side as it was.  I like the contrast between the polished front and the natural stone back.  The lighter color toward the edges seems to be oxidation.

I've got a couple issues I need to fix, but they're minor.  I'll post a final pic when I get done.

Oh, and I'd welcome any thoughts on stone ID.

I keep telling him that it's more than just "alright" but he doesn't listen to me.  ;-)

That's a stunner for sure, now set it in some nice silver work with the back open so folks can see what an ugly rock can really turn into, you know that "diamond in the rough" stuff and all that folk wisdom.

From unplanned to a tangible, stunning cab.  How great is that?
