Quartzite from da beach mon!
« on: June 30, 2015, 05:12:41 PM »

This is one I had found this past weekend while out on the sound. A very interesting quartzite with what looks like red and black moss(iron and hematite or maybe jasper??!) in milky to clear quartz with several other inclusions abound inside it. It seems like its slightly fractured most likely I assume from the beating its taken over the last ten thousand years or so in the ocean on its journey to my shop to be cut into beautiful beads and cabs to be enjoyed for I hope another ten thousand years!!

enjoy! :-)

You know what I love about this material Gergis?  It has a random pattern to it cross sectioned by the iron staining.  Very beautiful.  The shape you chose works well with the pattern.

Looks like Mt Baker area rough which makes sense as the jade is from that area also. Stay cool mon.

Ill bring the rest of the cobble by this weekend if I make it over there. I'd be stoked to find more. I had some trouble with the final polish and am not super stoked on the finish. Problematic but rare gorgeous material.. Something I need to work on for sure!
