i dug out my slant cabber last night, played with some turquoise.
Im not sure i like this thing at all. i cant see what im doing on the face of the rock lol!

Anyhow, i worked some turquoise, i ended up only getting the general shapes on the cabs and then moving back to hand working the stones with sand paper and files.
When i got them to a nice shape i just used 600 then 4000 and finish polished next to the seam of my jeans rubbing the stone on the denim until it had a killer shine.

i guess its good for making the backs of rocks flat. not much use to me otherwise.
I cant get used to not seeing the working surface while its facing away from me.

From now on when someone asks how to get a good final polish on turquoise I am going to tell them to rub it on their jeans.   

I've never even heard of a slant cabber before.  I am trying to get my hubby to build me a bigger cabbing machine, I want something larger than my pixie.
