Well, ya can't win them all. Irritates the hell out of me though. Maybe that is why I only do a few per year. You can see in the second photo what polished and what didn't. "Didn't" was a very large percentage of that stone.

I think we all know that one Jim, sometimes the promise is better than the result in our minds eye.
Still an interesting looking stone that shows off all the gabbro pretty well

Been there a few hundred times myself. It is worth it as cutting new things is always an adventure.

I am with Frank, I will cut just about anything because it is an adventure. Your posting of this also gets me to thinking that I should post all of my cabs, not just the ones that I (and really I am not that good of a judge) deem worthy of posting. I've seen Amanda see things that no one else sees in the past and makes an amazing piece.
