The frame that holds the blade sits on steel springs that oscillate on a 5mm stroke that runs off the cam shaft that drives the whole thing. The blade doesn’t move apart from this.

The block that the stones are waxed onto comes up from underneath on a variable counter weight arm that allows for very exacting and gentle weight increments to gently push the whole block up through the blades...I can’t emphasise how clever and how well designed it is.

The grit solution recirculates through the rose and gently sends a steady stream on top of the stones.

My opal triplet cuts can take up to 14 hours to go through...so thin and perfect. I sliced some Variscite the other day at 1mm ...for a special project..no problem. You would struggle to slice this sort of material that thin on a trim saw.

I would be happy to talk to the guys at Highland..

I can’t take all this knowledge with me...would love to pass it on.

Cheers,
Mike
