Mystery yellow and green jasper
« on: March 15, 2021, 10:30:06 AM »

I didn't see this on the market before 2019. It's not calcareous as I've tested it with acid.  SG is about the same as quartz. The Chinese - who seem to be the ones selling it - call it Phoenix Stone and I didn't get anywhere asking two Chinese sellers where it's from or what it is.  Another seller from Europe had a similar sphere and listed it as from Afghanistan but I don't think he's reliable. It's probably some kind of chert/mudstone. Any ideas?
