Royal Imperial jasper, cab in progress.

Started a different cab this morning, noticed a tiny fracture in the nearly finished cab,  tossed it on the junk pile.
Had to wear out three more belts to get this far.  This jasper is so hard it bounces off the wheels.
But none the less, it's my favorite stone.

I don't cut much of it anymore but I remember how incredibly hard it is. That is a wonderful pattern which looks great with that shape.

yesterday while making this and the other one, our wash machine (my silversmithing bench) drain hose cracked and all the water in the machine flooded our utility room.
I got the pleasure of having to stop my progress and replace the drain hose.
Thank god it was only the drain line, not the pump or anything up inside the washer.

I would have gotten alot farther in my creation otherwise.

I started this other cab, but i got to really worn 600 (not really really really worn, just really worn) and took out the loupe to inspect scratches, and found a hairline crack, so i put it aside. May heat it and put 330 in it, dont know yet.

two micro cracks in this cab is putting a HALT on the project.
Until i can get epoxy to draw into the fractures i am done with it.

Well will be Soaking these in acetone for a day or so, make sure no oil in cracks, the resin for windshield repair is super thin and runny, should be no problem getting it in there and then put the UV lamp on it for a cure

I would swear I commented on your lovely cab...  MY oldsheimers is getting the best of me. 

It is a beautiful cab!  I have never worked any Morrisonite I don't think...  Love the material!
