Piper poppy jasper party and mini rockhound vacation
« on: June 30, 2015, 04:23:26 PM »

I'm pretty sure that I'm still processing and decompressing after such a long hot 3day weekend on the peninsula.. I left work Thursday night after work and grabbed the 9pm ferry and got a most beautiful sunset ferry ride across puget sound. I met with an excited Joshua on the other side and had great conversation on our ride back to his place. We got back to his place about 1130pm and went right to bed so we could do some rockhounding early morning before chores and getting things prepped for the party on Saturday. Friday morn we woke up early to go visit a spot Joshua had showed me about a month back. After collecting some of the weirdest meta basalts/variolites in the area we went and finished up most our chores around the farm and met up with another rockhounder and went out to his properly named "secret beach" and collected some incredible cobbles. After a couple hours collecting it was time to go home have dinner and drinks and cool off after a long hot day. Saturday the big day... Well it was kind of a blur and went by way to fast to be honest and I think frank did a wonderful write up on Saturdays events already so I'll leave it at that. I will say I came home with new friends and incredible rough from a few of them and had a super duper fun time with Joshua, Frank and new friends. Here's a slew of pics from my weekend. Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Lots of great rough. The oddball chert is initially  a limestone breccia. They are not easy to come by with that pattern. Lots of good cutting.

Awesome! I'm really looking forward to cutting some of what looks like picture jasper like a royal sahara or something similar but think is more of a agate by the hardness of it seems. Got that from our new friend kyle on the eastside. Ill bring the bigger piece by when I come over next.

All those rocks are making me thirsty (again)! Ready to help me finish the final chore on the farm (keg)?

Again, wild fun party with lots of great folks!
