Went on a group outing with the rock club to a large lake high in the mountains near here; 2 hours drive, to look at some "marble" that we had been told about. I may have to revaluate my earlier posting of limestone or this may be misnamed. Either way, it was a good day for rockhounding with showers around all day but we never got wet and great views of a huge, little used lake; it feeds the famous Adams River salmon run. Access is on a forest service road through the cedar, spruce, fir, and birch forest.
The lake from the beach where the mountain sheds the marble blocks; yes those big black ones are too. There is a dike that runs right through the mountain here about 1km. wide all the way across the lake and continues up the mountain on the other side.
some of the colours where the water keeps them clean/not weathered.
greenish; about 400lbs.

grey/blue; the head of the tool is about 16" tip to tip

purple; a 7lb. piece; one of 3 I dragged up the bank from the lake, one for me, one for my ride, and one for the club shop
