If it was bought at Richardson's Rock Ranch, their yard and shop are full of stones from around the world and tigeriron is probable. Nothing like that dug at Richardson's, though (all volcanics). You have to cut tigeriron/tigereye/Marra Mamba at the correct angle to get good chatoyant effects, but cutting into it might tell you more.
Hey and thank you for the reply and no it was found near Richardson's Rock Ranch area, Pops brought that piece home decades ago when he first started getting into lapidary work and rock hounding, with Mom. It was one of the first rocks he found and the first one I seen him cut with his new saw at the time, he did not like it and tossed into the corner of the yard near the fence, I just rediscovered it when I was trying out my new metal detector and it brought back memories. It took 10 to 15 years before Pops started to buy rocks and became a dealer selling B&M Diamond tools, rough and slabs. With that said it took me nearly 3 years to sell off most of the rocks he had in the backyard after he died. $205,000 dollars later I still have about 10,000 pounds I will be taking with me to my new home, along with most of the fire agate and opals, and the slabs I have cut with my free Craig's list saw. Free for the taking if you are near Hayward CA give me a shout.
Plus here is the kicker I still have nearly 23 buckets of tumbling and trim saw material and about 100 pounds of Apache tears and some 2-3 pound rocks like obsidian and graveyard point plume, regency rose I will be listing on CL all for free. Anyone in Hayward near by suffer creek give me a holler if you want to grab a bucket or two. I also have about 30 gallons of Pella A mineral cutting oil all free.
Cheers
Oh PS someone asked if it was a meteorite or metorwrong I said it was a passion stone because it is driving me f-king crazy
