 I did a test piece to see how it polishes before I make the effort to do a sphere out of it. it is a little soft but took a good polish.

It is a serpentine. I collected it from an old iron mine that is about an hour from my house.
I collected some big pieces for spheres, there is some with alot of grey and there is some with a different shade of green and different patterns.

It's only about a 4 hardness but was easy to work with a light hand. Like grinding on malachite. It will scratch pretty easy may not be the best for jewelry. You may like green chalcedony like Mtorolite, or a green jasper.  I have some from gemfield I can post a picture and see what you think. They call it goldfield jade
