This mountain sucks for rocks
« on: October 28, 2014, 08:48:56 PM »

Been watching the area for rocks, all I see is lava flow type rock. Rip-rap. Sand stone.  Nothing cool at all.
Above Kittitas Washington where all the fires were over the summer.

There are a lot of areas that appear devoid of interest until something disturbs the underlying sediment layers. I find most interesting material where road cuts to access fires. logging activity, tree falldown because of high winds or just natural die off, and talus slopes or water erosion, exposes some sort of telltale sign of something. Because of the geology of this area, I don't have any particular thing in mind when I prospect and expect to find almost anything; most times a good hike in the bush and lots of exercise  is the sum total of the experience :)
Better luck next time.

There are some big jasper deposits reported in theses by geologists but they are a bit down the ridge toward the Columbia river.
