Diamond Pacific Wizard-4G
« on: January 29, 2020, 01:17:42 PM »

Greetings from Newbie / Senior.  I'd appreciate any comments on the Wizard-4G trim saw, which would seem suitable for small-scale work.  Lots of comments on DP Genie2 cabbing machine so I'm surprised there's nothing for the Wizard.  Thanks very much.

I have no doubt it is a great trim saw but no one needs to pay almost $800 for such a simple thing.  There are a lot of ways to make another piece of equipment do the job.  There are also a lot of less expensive options that work quite well.

Thanks very much for your response, SC.  I focused on the Wizard because trim saws from Diamond Pacific's main competitors all seemed to require oil as a coolant -- or at least not mention water as an alternative.

A quick search of Kingsley North shows eight water cooled trim saws for less than half.  Trim saws should never use oil.  Quality is not really an issue here.  Some are better than others but they all work and they all do the same thing.  Just rurnig an arbor and draining back to the reservoir.  One modification that needs to be made on all of them is a shield at the front to reduce splash toward the operator.  It should be quickly removeable or hinged out of the way for larger slabs.
