Well I decided to stay productive after the shop clean. I cut some really unique stones this last week. I will post them as I get the pics ready.
The first is a cut I tried not to far back. I had purchased a couple slabs for 3 and 4 dollars. I like buying these inexpensive slabs to show what you can do on a budget. The next couple were some trimmings that had a lot of fractures so I had to make the cab shapes fit in the clean areas. Next was some brand new material we got lucky finding on our last field trip. Found a good vein of it and it cuts nice. The very base of the vein was white and undercut but once you got above that it was a dream. Also a Botswana cushion cab. Last which the pictures don't do justice is a think slab of Marfa Plume. When I cut the chunk I hit the druzy. I had to plan the next cut to get past the druzy for a solid base. When I cut this the bottom of the cab I knew had the druzy dangerously close to the edge and wasn't sure if I could pull it off. As I rounded the sides the pocket kept opening but the tongue had just enough hold that I could finish it and get a good buffing. It is quite long and very unique.
