Rainforest Jasper pendant, wrapped in copper wire
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:26:15 PM »

Here is the finished pendant and necklace I made from my rainforest jasper cabochon I finished this morning!  I think I need some better tools, I mangled the wire a bit in a couple of places.

I also rediscovered this evening that wire-wrapping can be a bit nerve-wracking!

I think it is lovely:) I love the shaping of the wire and the necklace links look really good with it:)
Very pretty... Rock on:)

I believe you did just fine despite all your trepidations on the matter!

It helps that I've wanted to do this almost my entire adult life and finally I'm getting to.  <g>  As for keeping it fun, oh, you bet!  I'm having a blast!

I think I was mostly worried earlier because this was the first thing I've wire-wrapped in a couple of years.  I've worked a lot with wire for decades making simpler findings, but the last few wire wrapped pendant settings I tried didn't go so well.  So, I spent a bit of time over the fall and winter reading everything I could find online and in Amazon Prime on how to do a better job.  This wrap is one that's based off a similar one featured in one of the books I "borrowed" from Amazon.  It had step by step instructions and photos, and that really helped.  I didn't like how large the "crown" was on the bail in their version, so I modified that a bit to keep the bulk down.

I think the bail part is overlooked a lot of times to add even more interest to the design. So I am always looking for different ways to create an unusual bail. I love the way you made this whole design. From rock bottom to the top:)
