The Calico is very classic and easy to spot from the color.  The Other Palm Root you have there is the color of the Pal Root I have collected just North of Red Rock Canyon along Redrock Inyokern road in California.  Those deposits were formed from the Black Mountain ash fall which also created the Buried Forest wood deposits in the canyon itself.  Which I think is some of the best replaced wood in California.
