Highway grade from Diamond Bar California Jasper or Rhyolite
« on: December 28, 2020, 01:08:41 PM »

The guy I bought the rock from said this material came from interstate construction.  Something they ran into while grading for the road bed for the interstate running thru what is now Diamond Bar California (greater LA area).  Supposedly found in the 1960s.  3.6 inch sphere.

Good looking stuff, the banding is beautiful. Takes a good polish, too. Have fun with it. Should make good cabs, also. Nice low-key casual jewelry maybe.

Nice sphere! I thought he said a road cut near Barstow, hopefully one of the forum members will know what it’s called.

Love those precise little healed offsets across the banding.  The rock is telling us its story.  Nice work on this sphere!
