Nipomo marcasite in quartz sphere
« on: January 12, 2021, 05:42:20 PM »

Picked this from a rockhound's yard and neither of us could figure out what it was, that is until I started slicing it.  Nipomo marcasite sphere, smallish at only 2.8 inches, but it came out nice.

I love collecting up there.  One of my many favorite spots.  I always get a chance to visit with friends up there when I collect.  What's cool is you can go out at night with a UV light, as the sagenite agate up there fluoresces green and orange.

That color is cool.  Looks orangish.
