sintered diamond grinding wheels
« on: February 02, 2021, 12:28:29 PM »

I wish to get myself a couple sintered diamond grinding wheels for my old Raytec 8" grinder/polisher to replace the plated diamond wheel which I have worn out. When I go to supplier's sites they say when replacing a plated diamond wheel with a sintered wheel I should go one grit larger with the sintered. So my question is if I replace my plated 100 grit wheel do I go with an 80 grit or a 140 grit wheel? I am just unsure if they mean bigger grit as in coarser or bigger in number which would be finer. Also has anybody tried the Johnson Lapidary sintered diamond wheels? They sound like a pretty good deal if they are quality. Thanks much!

For 100 grit replacement you want 80 grit sintered.  You'll love it!

Thank you very much bilquest!! I had e-mailed two suppliers and hadn't heard back for a couple days. Snowed in here and wanting to do some cab work and my old plated wheels barely do the job anymore. I figured sintered will likely outlast me.
