Santa Claus trapped in Red Coral sphere
« on: February 03, 2021, 05:21:49 PM »

This is material sourced from Jay (Sandsave) after a rock swap where he styled me with some wonderful fossil preforms.  First one completed is Red Horn Coral from Utah which after grinding came out to 3.7" diameter including a 2.6" length head of what looks like Santa Claus but is a beautifully preserved red horn coral.  Pretty stoked to have one of these on my shelf now.  More fossil spheres to come soon.

Thanks Jay!

To show you how hit and miss "capturing" a full size fossil in a finished sphere is, I included a photo of the "before" cube.  You can lose quite a bit during the sphering process!

I’m glad you got something to show, they look so good as a cube, then when they are round nothing or very little of the red horn showing.

Glad the coral came thru for you.
