Multiple Spheres 2-8-21
« on: February 08, 2021, 06:09:36 PM »

Here’s a few I finished lately.
1. Houser Jasper
2. Moss Agate made this one for a fellow rockhound.
3. Dontknowite picked this up at a yard/rock sale.

Is the Houser Jasper actually from the Hauser beds?  I was collecting Geodes a number of years back and found a deposit of hard rock that had Jasper stringers running thru is and when it opened into larger areas it looks a lot like Mojave Jasper or Bruneau.  This is a pic of the Jasper I was able to get the cab from a solid area without the matrix.  I never went back and tried to see if it was extensive of a chance couple of finds.  Once you reply I will delete the pic so as not to detract from your lovely spheres.  I took the pic down since you replied, been out of town for a couple weeks.

Really pretty spheres! The third one looks like a vesicular basalt-type with amygdules of varying minerals, some vesicles filled and some not.

Nice work. I agree that the last one looks like basalt.

I picked up the Houser Jasper in Mitchell, Ore, from a lady that I believe her and her husband used to run the Lucky Strike mine, she had rock pile at her house.
I agree it was pretty soft so basalt makes sense. I don’t know what location it came from.

The Basalt looks like the eastern half of Oregon.  LOL.  Sphere came out great.
