expandable belts coming unglued
« on: September 17, 2021, 09:26:07 AM »

A couple of 3m diamond mesh belts and a Raytech Rez belt for expandable drum are coming apart at the seam. Seams were originally taped with what appears to be strapping tape but it is failing.   Any recommendations on an adhesive to keep them going?

I cannot recommend an adhesive, but I do recommend checking your expando drums: are there any cracks visible on the sides, and are they mounted in proper direction? Also, what speed is your arbor set up for? It is odd that not one but several belts are failing at the same time.

Thank you, I will check. It is odd, now that you mention it.  I recently moved the arbor. All of this has happened since the move. Hmm.

Use post office "TYVEK" mailer, Cut to match angle. Glue with "PLYABOND" contact cement. Mark belt for glue area.
Use roller to bond well. Roll other edge and use weighted block.
