Verde Antique sphere
« on: November 24, 2021, 09:03:30 AM »

This material is reportedly comprised of serpentine and marble and comes out of the Mojave Valley and ranges from yellows to greens, often streaked.  This specific piece was more along the monochromatic yellow marble and has some silvery metallic inclusions in it as well.  Really nice color to it; finished up at 4.6" diameter and about 5 pounds.  I posted three differently lit photos, the setting sunset photo is closest to its actual color.

That is some beautiful material.
I really love the subdued yellow tone.

Great polish, love the color.  SoCalAgatehound and I went to a local rock giveaway and the back of the yard had a huge pile of this material and Howlite.  I grabbed a bunch of large pieces but they all still had on the rind so could see the color but no idea how it would finish.  Thanks, another lovely!

The color is what usually grabs you, just not a whole lot there that has this pistachio hue to it.

Glad to hear you scored a bunch of this, Steve!  It also makes for good bookends and trivets.
