central Idaho hello
« on: February 14, 2022, 02:56:40 PM »

Not new to finding, collecting or hauling rocks. New to figuring out what the heck I picked up and hauled home.
Retired old sassy women here. Been all over the west trapping. Probably walked over millions of dollars in gold and gems.
Started tumbling some rocks this winter with a small hobby tumbler. Of course I need to rebuild an old tumbler of the FIL's tumbler he had for polishing rifle cases.  :toothy10:
Found a great green agate this fall while elk hunting. Made the other half pack it out. But I helped haul out his cow elk. Hauled out some smaller green agates on my elk hunt plus my anterless elk. Have to either quit hauling elk or rocks at the same time. Nah!

Welcome!

Sounds like you've got the best of all worlds up there. (I'm in Arizona - so it's "up" there from here.)

Some good people and great rocks in your neck o' the woods.

Hauled a fair amount of rocks out of the west side of AZ. Never got anything out of Burro creek area wasn't thinking about rocks at that time.
SE Oregon is my old stomping grounds and have hauled out tons of pretty rocks from there, too.
Waiting for snow to melt and to heal from shoulder surgery before I can get back to the rocks.

Hope your recuperation goes well.

If you ever get down to Gooding, a very good person to know is the owner of the Idaho Rock Shop. He's a member here, but right now he might be recuperating from Quartzsite... .

Belated Welcome from SoCal.  Been out collecting after construction issues now home and can check the computer.  Glad to have you join us.  I can't tell you how many people find great rocks hunting!  Hopefully you worked a deal that whatever the weight of the elk, you get equal weight in rocks.  I mean that's fair right?

My elk was about 50 lbs for me to haul out. Not sure I can pack that now. Will be interesting to see what I can do weight wise.

I'm not the best or even a close second when it comes to down loading pictures on these forums.
