Onyx I.D. ?
« on: February 27, 2022, 11:02:25 AM »

This is probably a question for one of our sphere makers.  I had a big block of Onyx, from the crust it just looked like it was all off white with a single band of Black.  Looking at only the rind I had assumed it was a lower quality piece of silver lace but upon cutting it had this Beautiful Yellow and is nothing like Silver Lace.  Any Ideas where it might be from?  I know there are probably a million Onyx's but figured I'd ask.

I wouldn't rule out as it potentially coming from Calico Mountain area, as the onyx from there has a bit a variety.  I came back from there this past Saturday and we came across some different colors.  An older find from this area I slabbed and posted for you to compare.  While it does not have quite the canary yellow that you posted, there is a combo of oranges and yellows that were somewhat new to me.  Maybe someone else have something more definitive?
