New Mexico Wonderstone
« on: June 06, 2022, 06:26:42 PM »

Made a few spheres out of material hounded at a Barite mine outside of Hatch, NM.  It turns out to be yet another form of Wonderstone and has some interesting characteristics/features.  I rotate them about 45 degrees each day to get a new "look" on them.  They each came out about 4.3" diameter.

Always appreciate seeing these wonderstone spheres.  Find myself wandering to the freezer in search of raspberry ripple ice cream after admiring this kind of rhyolite.

It seems to take decent polish and color "pop". Was it challenging to push it this far?
