I may have it.  What exactly were you looking for?  I'd have to rummage around (it's probably still packed in a box from when I moved out to AZ 6 yrs. ago).

Thanks, guys
There is an article on pg 51, I've heard referenced in another source,  on polishing that I think would be interesting, though very technical.

I will look through my stuff and see if I can find it.  In the meantime, this actually may be the article you were looking for:

http://www.attawaygems.com/NMFG/mystery_of_polish.pdf

There is also a good discussion of subsurface damage here:  http://www.gemologyonline.com/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20199

These both are regarding faceting, but polishing is polishing no matter what "procedure" you are using.

I knew about the 1st article,..that's what got me thinking about polishing problems.
I'm still in search of the missing Part 2. That may be in his article in the Lapidary Journal, at least that is my hope.
The 2nd referrence you gave is very interesting...I am reading it now.
Thank you, friend.

Interesting, with as many back issues of that that I have, Feb. 1999 is not among them.  Maybe I have it separate for reading?  I'll keep an eye out.
