Did some exploring this friday :-)
« on: May 17, 2015, 06:50:18 PM »

Me and my good friend "cashmere" from eastern washington went out for a lil expedition via cascades loop hwy on friday. It was dark overcast and cool in town so we packed for chilly and possible rain up in the mountains. It ended up being quite nice and partly sunny for most the day. We didnt find alot of stuff worthy of bringing home with us but we both needed some fresh air and something new and different and I think we accomplished just that. It was an incredibly long day and got to see quite alot of varied landscapes so hope you enjoy the ton of photos... Happy hounding out there everyone!!! ;-)                                                                                            some neat banding formed on whatever this boulder was. deeper we go east into the mountains the nicer it got decent view up above the river valley floor really neat boulder of black phylite neat lil waterfall we spotted and hungout at for a bit cashmere posing in front of the falls me posing haha after hitting a couple spots high up in the mountains we come out to some dark clouds on the horizon but still some incredible views! dogs getting pooped out after a few stops and quite a few more hours on the road  a real gusher!! a crappy phone camera panorama swamp area in the valley super interesting granite conglomerate  what appeared to be a sort of chinese writing stone oddball stuff..i liked it though so i picked up a few small cobbles for future cutting and one more of jojo the beagle completely tuckered out after a 14hr day running around hope everyone is having a great weekend!! :-)

Looks like a good time was had by all and thanks for taking us along. I really hope you carried that Chinese writing stone home to Frank. That is an "us" stone for sure.

Good to see. I hope your feeling better. You need to put that dog on a workout program it looks like it has been going to the spa too much.

That makes two of us that need a workout plan..always feels good to be in nature breathing in big gulps of fresh air! Still not feeling well..my new doctor has some ideas as to what the issue is in my hip and we are gonna do some testing to find out exactly or at least narrow it down here in the next couple weeks hopefully. Ill call ya tomorrow and give the full report tomorrow afternoon frank ;-)

Heres more pics of cobbles I found on this trip ~ metaquartzite with specular hematite and jasper inclusions some other various quartzites my one piece of jade various serpentines what I think is some silicified blue/green schist what Im thinking is some marble..maybe frank has some better ideas from the pics. It does appear that a couple pieces have some pyrite cubes in them..some causing some iron staining..
