Foredom Bench Lathe died
« on: May 04, 2020, 05:44:09 AM »

Hi all!  New and happy to be here!  My problem: I have a Foredom Bench Lathe that I've had for years but have used less than 10 times.  I was screwing on a new buff wheel. I just tapped the power briefly to thread it and, out of the blue, it just stopped working.  The motor doesn't turnover at all - I don't even hear any power trying to get to it.  I checked the breakers - good there.  I plugged it in somewhere else and nothing.  It's like I need to reset it but no reset button (that I'm aware of).  I can't get through to anyone at Foredom.net.  Does anyone have an idea what's wrong or how to fix it?

It is almost certainly a broken connection.  Check all screw connections and if that doesn't work you are going to have to go to a continuity tester to find the break.

I assume you mean a broken connection within the bench lathe, right?

Yes.  Most likely in the switch.
